BSF Apprehended Smuggler in Punjab
On 08th Apr’ 2024, while carrying out patrolling in depth area during night hours, BSF troops, at about 02:10 am, observed movement of some suspected persons in a wheat field near village- Dhanoe Khurd of district Amritsar. The troops chased the miscreants and successfully apprehended 01 person. The other suspects managed to escape by taking advantage of darkness. On search of the apprehended person, 01 Mobile phone was recovered from his possession. The apprehended person is a resident of village- Wan, district Tarn Taran. The area was cordened and an extensive search was conducted in morning hour, which led to recovery of 01 packet wrapped in yellow coloured adhesive tape at about 06:45 am. One metal ring was found attached with the packet. Upon inspection of the suspected packet, 01 empty pistol magazine and 395 grams of opium in small packets of transparent polythene were found. After initial questioning, the apprehended Indian smuggler was handed over to the police for further investigation, which is expected to yield some more recoveries and apprehensions. This timely action by the vigilant BSF troops successfully resulted into a significant apprehension and recovery near border area and underscors BSF’s commitment to making Punjab a drug-free state.
