BSF recovers heroin worth Rs 12 crore, shoots down Pakistani drone in Rajasthan

JAISALMER: Continuous efforts are being made by Pakistan to smuggle heroin into the Indian border by drones along the international border with Rajasthan.


Alert BSF jawans on Wednesday night shot down a Pakistani drone that had entered the Indian territory at the international border near Raisinghnagar in Ganganagar. Following which, a search operation was launched by BSF. The officials recovered around 2.3kg of heroin whose market value is estimated at Rs 12 crore.


A search operation is under way in the entire area as BSF and police are conducting joint raids to nab the smugglers who might have come to take the delivery of the consignment.

Earlier on Tuesday, BSF jawans near the international border adjacent to Raisinghnagar area fired at a Pakistani drone which entered the Indian territory at Trishul border outpost. The drone was forced to return to the Pakistani border. The heroin recovered by the BSF is being handed over to the concerned agency.
