COBRA Neutralized 10 More Maoists in Chhattisgarh
Today, on 02 April 2024, an encounter broke out during early morning hours between a joint team of COBRA commandos of the CRPF and the Maoists in the forest area of village Lendra of Bijapur district In Chhattisgarh.
During the search of the spot after the encounter, the bodies of 10 Maoists along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered. The killed Maoists are reportedly from the Company Number 2 of the PLGA.
Bijapur, which is located in the Bastar region, is a hotbed of Maoist activity. Around 41 Maoists have been neutralized in separate encounters with security forces in the Bastar region so far this year.
Maoists used to ramp up their activities from March onward to carry out their Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC). The March to June period has recorded numerous attacks on security forces in the Bastar region. This time the center government seemed to be prepared for the retaliation.
This is the second successful operation of the special forces of the CRPF within a week. Last week, six Maoists were eliminated by the elite COBRA commandos in an encounter near the Basaguda area of Bijapur.
